Transfer week Jan 27th

Hello everybody!!

Kinda crazy...it feels like I was here yesterday Emailing you!!

This week has been fun as always! I really love it here in the WKM!

As for crazy stuff happening...not too many! XD It has been a pretty smooth sailing week as of not having anything explode in your face kind of way...XD

We have had the opportunity to teach so many of our amazing investigators this whole week! That, and we are always looking for many more opportunities to find people on the streets, and just take a second to get to know them a little. It's really amazing to meet so many different and new people!

I also got to go on exchanges with my MTC companion!! XD Elder Widmer and I were together for Wednesday in my area, so that was pretty fun putting two greenies together...again! But we hit it off really well. With the lack of miles, we walked all of the day...except for dinner...:p I planned out so we didnt use almost any, but after dinner, the odometer played a prank and changed from 4 to 25mi for the day!

Spanish is still coming along. We had a language study with the Zone Leaders before an hour long exchange. And that was probably the most that I really have learned on in-depth Spanish than what anyone has been able to teach me in the field!! PFEW!

But within that exchange, I was with the ZL that only spoke English, so I was alone on the lessons that we had for that time. Holly cow...that was a fun lesson! I didnt think that it would go as well as it did! I always surprise myself when I go out and really start speaking. When I know that I cant fall back on anyone, that's when I really start trying to use the Spanish I know! Really cool to see that work!

So we got our transfer calls last Sunday........................and

I'm Staying!!

And the ironic part is the fact that Elder Larson IS leaving...but not...:p

He has been called as our Zone Leader for this zone.........the odds of that huh??

BUT

I am getting an Elder Erwin, said to be the best!! Others said he's a white Mexican in terms of his Spanish, so I am super excited to use that to help me in my language!! But I'm just really positive with this upcoming transfer!! I'm not the biggest fan of change and changes, but I am really looking forward to Wednesday...really!

This week has really been a highlight in my personal studies of the Book of Mormon! There are some really amazing things found in there! I have decided to go through it with two highlighters, both for different doctrine subjects. And each time I read through them, I'm able to learn so many things!!

And after the Book of Mormon, I plan to do the same with the Bible! I'm really excited to get in depth with the Bible again!!!

Ya...not too much happening this week. But I am really excited for the week to come! So at the moment, I'm just keeping on keeping on!

Mission Miracles January 21

Hey everybody! I hope that everything's going well for all of you. I loved to hear all the fun things going on in Heber!!

Sorry that this letter is a day late. Things were closed down for Martin Luther King Day.

This week has defiantly been a fun one! Well...every week here has been fun and amazing! So this one is up on the list included with "The Best Two Years."

Apart from the amazing opportunity to share the gospel, a highlight of the beginning of the week has been the Specialized Trainings with President Ware on Wednesday. We went over to the Gage building (one right next to the Temple), and we got to learn kinda what's happening around to mission as well as focuses of President Ware and his assistants. Then throughout the meeting, each of us were able to have an interview and talk with President Ware.

I love my mission president! He is really amazing!! ...ya, that really just sums it up!

But we were able to catch up on some things that are happening in my area, as well as just discuss how the mission is fairing so far. He also commented on how the way I help myself up, like a missionary out 4X's as long as me. Then we discussed the situation with myself and my companion. Pfew...that was fun....XD But I feel that really helped things.

The Comp and I are doing well. There are still times that are hard, but they are less and less. I really do respect Elder Larson as a missionary. He really can go far with that.

I also had another exchange with an Elder who's going home this upcoming week, Elder Kelly. Really fun and a great missionary. And I have to say that there are miracles that happen during exchanges!!!! So much fun!! I just have to say that it is really amazing to be a missionary!

The work is going well, we are just keeping on keeping on with our investigators. Ray and Anthony are still really progressing. Both have a deep desire to continue to learn. Ray is being introduced to Family History work. And Anthony is preparing himself and his wife to enter the waters of Baptism for the 8th of February. It's just an exciting time to be part of the Lord's work.

The language is going well. I still dont know too much, but I see the hand of the Lord each day as I speak and use the language! It's really something! The gift of tongues is there each day. I'm not only able to say what I feel needs to be said, but the investigator knows what I'm saying!!! wow! That has really been a strong testimony builder right there!

Miracles happen every day! And not only for missionaries! I have already seen some fun and crazy stuff, especially when I think and meditate of what the Lord has done for me! We live in a very exciting time, where the gospel is once again on the Earth. We have that opportunity to discover it, and learn about it. "Ask and ye shall receive, knock and it shall be opened unto you." Not only are the people we share this with able to feel of God's love and truth, but each time, my testimony grows as well!

Letter from Sister blodgett

Dear Br. and Sis. Wright and Gma Pitts,

I am Sister Blodgett in Kennewick, WA and have the privilege of having your Elder Wright in our home.  He is a wonderful missionary and very nice person.  He always has a good attitude and works hard.  He sticks to the rules faithfully.  He is a good influence on his companions.  We like Broadway and music so he is still around it some.  I have not heard him sing much yet.  I am going to have to fix that. 

 

He is very proud of his family and mentions you frequently.   

He is having fun finding his artistic side and painting with me.  It was fun when we first proposed it that he thought he would do so badly, but was still willing to try.  Then he was so delighted with his results. Now he is ready to tackle any painting project.  He makes me smile.  

Mostly, he is an excellent missionary.  I love his quiet, gentle ways.  Was he always that way?  He offers every day to do something for us.  

Thank you for sharing him with us.  I hope he is not transferred soon.

January 13th

Hello Everybody!!! What a fantastic week it has been!!!!

You might ask, "Why is it fantastic Elder Wright?" WELL.......well...I havent really thought that far as to answer that question.... BUT it still has been a fantastic week here at the WKM!! This week has been pretty packed full with just about every kind of fun missionary story! And it's just been another great day to be alive!

Highlight of the week:

WE HAD A WEDDING!!!!

So we have been teaching this referral, Anthony, and his girlfriend, Celica; for the past like two or three weeks. And they have just soaked everything in! And one of the subjects that we thought was going to be hard was getting them married and living the Law of Chastity. But the night that we brought it up...they had the wedding day 5 days later, that excited to be married and then to progress to baptism!!

As the end of the week drew closer, some complications came into the picture...that was SUPER hard to help them with. And that problem was still there the DAY of the planned wedding. So two days before, we called it off to the Branch activities director, and waited for them to talk to President. They were in there for a full hour during church, but they came out everything good and ready for the wedding...in two hours! So we planned, prepared, and ran a FANTASTIC wedding in less than 2 hours!!! ...I say an applaud for that!

It was such an amazing experience! Both are really amazing people! And both really want the gospel in their lives, and what a blessing and honor that it is that I am able to be with them along the way. But we will be starting all the lessons over, starting from lesson 1, and have them on date for baptism on the 25...but I know that he will want it earlier than that, so we'll have to discuss that tonight when we teach him! WHA!!! ...I love missionary work!!

And this whole week has been full of really fun things! Everyday has been long and packed, but by the end of that day, I barely can remember what I ate for breakfast! And the end of the week justcomes out of nowhere! I mean, transfers are in two weeks!

But one of the other highlights has been the further progression of Ray. One of the nights, something happened during the lesson. He felt that we left everything behind and didnt teach truth, but then we found that he hasnt had that full understanding for the Book of Mormon, which is what we were discussing in further detail. We found that he really hadent had lesson 1...hard situation for a infinigator. But this last week, one of the other Elders had a baptism, which we took Ray to. We showed him the font and discussed all of that. But just perfectly, he moved into the Book of Mormon. So we were able to clear that and help him start to build that testimony of it. I really can see each day, the rapid progression of Ray. He has really come far! Both of us are really excited to see him see this change, he loves it!

Especially being the companion of a District Leader...I have the opportunity to go on exchanges with all the missionaries in the district, as well as the Zone Leaders. I went on two of those this week. Both were fantastic! It's kinda funny that with both of those and switching companions, I did most of the OYM's, and led more of the lessons. Each of the different exchanges has really helped me learn more and progress, use what I do know, and has kinda recharged me with me relationship with Elder Larson.

I'm still having a really hard time with Elder Larson. Really the one thing that we have in common is the fact that we are here to help other people, and we are devoted to that objective. I love the people I teach, and I know that he has that same feeling for them. But I feel that he's a little dead...in terms of emotions...with me. But through this and him, I have learned a lot! And I know that's what companions are able to help us with. And he has really helped me with making me better, just in a different way of doing it.

The language is also coming along. As always, I really love speaking Spanish! I love being around Hispanics! And I dont love the empty look in my eyes most of the time...ha. I am defiantly understanding more and more, and speaking is getting easier. I am also like Ch 10 in 2Nephi...reading aloud. After a spanish lesson tag teamed with the Hermanas, one of them who came from Mexico complimented on how good it sounded, so that sounds like it's doing pretty well.The food is always great! We just barely ran into pure gold!! Solomente, taco trucks are sent from heaven!!! Wow.... We have a taco truck off of 10th and Olympia that has the BEST burrito that I have had...that I can remember! Really hard to top it. My companion had their langua...said it was the bost...but I'm not in the mood to try that at the moment.

I hope that everything is going well for all of you. I'm excited to hear all the fun things that are happening!!

Everything is going really well here. Missionary work is really amazing! I know that some moments are hard and taxing, but each second is worth it. If I am not able to do ONE thing here...one baptism...nothing, I KNOW that I will achieve that promise that Elder Holland gave to us. We are PROMISED that if we do our best, we are guaranteed at least ONE convert...ME. And I can testify that is true! I see myself change each day, and if one day is bad, we have the next to try again to make ourselves better. That is the power, reality, and blessing of the Atonment. We can progress and learn, and reap the benefits that our Father in Heaven has in store for us.

Elder Glen Wright Washing Kennewick Mission

January 7th

Hey everybody!!

Everything is going really well here in the WKM! This new year so far has been treating us very well.

New Years eve was pretty awesome! With the Tuesday, we had to change that to our P-Day, due to us having a curfew of 6:00pm. That day was pretty normal, and the evening was pretty fun for at home with the companion. We had a member bring us dinner...Oo She didnt know what we would like, so she literally got like two of EVERYTHING from KFC. From the bucket to burgers...XD That was a little crazy, especially for any resolution to loose weight...XD But that was pretty awesome!

The work here is doing pretty awesome as well. Although I'm not a fan of knocking doors or tracking (at all...XD), we have many opportunities to do that as well. There are defiantly amazing things that can happen as we tract. As well as everything in between XD, defiantly the thing to do if you desire all the fun missionary stories!! :D

We have had some amazing opportunities to teach many different and amazing people! I love the people here, Hispanics are fantastic! When you know what they're saying, they are really funny!! :D

The investigator that I talked about last time, Ray, is doing very well. We are moving him forward to be baptized in the month of March. And until then, we always look forward to meeting with him. We have plans to introduce him to the Family History Library this week, as well as talking about the amazing blessings of the Priesthood. But he is always excited now to learn more, and is rapidly growing and exercising his faith. Really excited for him!!

One of the things that we do, especially while having the District Leader as your companion, is Exchanges. :P Not the most exciting thing when it's in your own area, but I love them!! There are ALWAYS crazy miracles that happen during exchanges!

We had a planned lesson with a referral from another member, his name was Anthony. I was with Elder Wadsworth, an awesome missionary out for about three months more than me, and just as knowledgeable in Spanish. We sat down, and the first thing he said was: "What do I have to do to be Baptized?" WHAA!!! ...that was cool! So we are really starting to teach him. And all withing this next two months, we plan to get him and his Novia (girlfriend) married and then baptized. So that will be SOO cool!!!!! Missions are where it's at! XD

The Spanish language is just as amazing as ever. It's also still as big as a pain as ever! But I am still looking forward with faith and prayer to be able to really function in this language. The hour each morning devoted to language study is always really helpful and made use to every second!

I'm still working with the companion. XD There are just some that you just click with, and others that are...harder. But its finding the strengths in each that make the best companionships.

Today was defiantly a highlighted day for me. I was able to go to the Temple this morning. And the Washington Temple is very beautiful inside and outside! It really was a wonderful spiritual experience to really be in tune to the Spirit...especially now that everything was once again in English...XD

I can defiantly say that questions and concerns can be answered as we take the time to go to the Temple, whether it be to go inside, or to walk around the grounds. There is such an amazing Spirit that is felt!

I hope that everything is going really well wherever all of you are! I am so grateful for your support and love to hear all the fun and exciting things that are happening!!!
